About.
The mission of the Hollywood International Film Festival is to promote the art of storytelling by honoring and encouraging the work of filmmakers, authors, and other artists who use words and images to tell stories.
The Hollywood International Film Festival (HiFF) is organized by Hummingbird Art and Culture Foundation Ltd., a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting creativity and cultural exchange through the art of filmmaking. Established as North America's newest competitive film festival, HiFF serves as a platform for creative storytellers and audiences seeking fresh perspectives and innovative voices in cinema.
Our annual lineup includes a diverse array of feature films, shorts, series, and both fiction and nonfiction episodes. In addition to screenings, we host engaging debates, panels, and events where filmmakers share their insights and discuss their work.
HiFF offers attendees, artists, and industry professionals unique opportunities to network, collaborate, and engage with one another, fostering a vibrant community where cinema can be explored and celebrated.
The festival was envisioned by Umar John, a filmmaker and graphic artist who founded Hummingbird Film Studios Inc. in 2009 as an alternative to mainstream cinema. His passion for supporting emerging filmmakers and diverse voices in storytelling laid the foundation for HiFF. Through Hummingbird Film Studios, Umar has consistently championed creativity, and the studio plays a key role in producing and promoting independent films that break traditional boundaries.

Our interactive workshops and expert-led panels offer valuable insights into the art and business of filmmaking. Attendees can learn from seasoned industry professionals and emerging creators alike.
HiFF provides a dynamic environment for filmmakers, industry professionals, and cinema enthusiasts to connect, collaborate, and share ideas, fostering long-lasting relationships within the film community.
We showcase a diverse range of films, including features, shorts, documentaries, and experimental works. Our goal is to provide a platform for fresh, original voices from around the world.
We honor exceptional talent through various award categories, recognizing outstanding achievements in filmmaking across genres and formats, from independent creators to established professionals.
Our team is a passionate group of creative professionals dedicated to making the Hollywood International Film Festival a platform for filmmakers worldwide. Together, we bring experience, innovation, and a shared vision to celebrate the art of cinema.
