Public-facing learning, honest industry conversation and practical pathways for the filmmakers who will shape what comes next.

A festival can celebrate completed work and still remain deeply interested in how work gets made.

HIFF’s Industry programme is being designed as an accessible place for filmmakers, students, apprentices, creative professionals and curious audiences to examine the process behind cinema. The aim is practical and generous: make knowledge visible, invite difficult questions and connect people across different levels of experience.

Individual speakers and sessions are not yet announced. Once confirmed, every session page will clearly state its subject, level, capacity, access requirements and registration status.

03 / NextGen

Learning has many forms

Opportunity should recognize potential before pedigree.

NextGen will be developed for students, apprentices, workshop participants and early-career creators—including filmmakers shaped through ustad–shagird and mentor-led traditions. Formal enrollment may be relevant to a particular opportunity, but it will not define the entire programme.

Potential areas include festival production, programming support, guest services, media, social storytelling, photography, post-production, event operations and supervised creative placements. Final roles, eligibility, partners and application dates remain to be announced.

Talent should not disappear behind the cost of access.

HIFF intends to build a responsible support model for filmmakers and learners who may otherwise be excluded by travel, training, accreditation or participation costs. This is a development commitment—not a current funding promise or open application programme.

HIFF is exploring a disciplined pathway that could help a promising emerging filmmaker move from a focused story idea to a completed short-form film through mentorship, production planning and carefully scoped support. Governance, funding, rights and partner capacity must be approved before any call opens.

07 / Year-round HIFF

The conversation continues

A festival once a year.
A cultural dialogue beyond it.

The annual festival remains HIFF’s flagship event. Separate, smaller discussions and cultural or industry activities may be presented throughout the year, each clearly labeled so audiences can distinguish them from the official edition programme.

Future activities may include filmmaker conversations, focused craft sessions, community screenings and institutional collaborations. No event will appear as active until its title, partners, date, venue and registration pathway are confirmed.
